Jamil Zaki: Hope in Difficult Times

December 10 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

This experience has passed.

How can we overcome cynicism and find more hope in dark days?

For thousands of years, people have argued about whether humanity is selfish or generous. And the truth is more hopeful than we’re told.

At this special event, psychologist and author Professor Jamil Zaki will present an antidote to the cynicism which is corroding our societies. He will explore the latest scientific research and share inspiring stories which challenge the belief that humanity is selfish. And he’ll advocate instead for a “hopeful skepticism” that can create a better world.

Although cynicism is an understandable response to a world full of injustice, it is often misplaced. Zaki will share his practical guide to nurturing a more trusting and cooperative society-and, ultimately, a more optimistic future for everyone.

This event will help you learn how to build your own hopeful skepticism. This doesn’t mean putting your faith in every politician or influencer. It means thinking critically, while also acknowledging strengths, to re-balance your view of human nature.

Jamil’s ideas are wise, practical, scientifically grounded and provide the inspiration we need right now to find hope in difficult times.
